Pasta Sauce

This is a very versatile pasta sauce that always pleases.  Fantastic as a spaghetti / pasta sauce or a nice lasagna sauce.  This is also a sauce that freezes well to enjoy later

1 lb vlean ground beef
2 onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
3 cloves garlic, crushed
8 oz sliced mushrooms
2 cans (796ml) diced tomatoes
1 can (796ml) crushed tomatoes
1 can (340ml) tomato sauce
1/2 cup grated carrot
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp white pepper
1 tbsp celery seed
2 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tbsp oregano
1/2 tbsp dry mustard
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  1. In a large pot add diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce
  2. In a large pan heat olive oil and brown beef
  3. Once beef is cooked strain and place in pot with tomatoes
  4. Using the drippings from the beef add onions and saute until translucent
  5. Add to the onions the green peppers, garlic, mushrooms, salt and pepper and saute for approximately 3-5 minutes
  6. Add onions and pepper mixture to the meat/tomato sauce and mix well
  7. Add celery seed, Italian seasoning, oregano, dry mustard and Worcestershire sauce and continue to stir well until all ingredients are well blended
  8. Cover and let simmer on low heat stirring frequently for a couple of hours
  9. Season to you taste
