Asian BBQ Chicken Skewers

A nice combination of spices that provides a nice subtle heat yet not overpowering.  Quick and easy and great to prepare before entertaining.  Your guests will think you spent hours preparing.

Ingredients
1/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/3 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp lime juice (fresh)
1 1/2 tbsp canola oil
1/2 tsp Asian sesame oil (important for flavor)
2 tsp minced garlic (3 cloves minced)
1 1/2 tsp grated ginger
4 boneless chicken breasts - cubed (or chicken thighs equivalant))
Instructions
  1. In a zip-lock bag (or bowl) add brown sugar, garam masala, cayenne pepper, soy sauce, lime juice, canola oil, Asian sesame oil, garlic, and ginger and mix well
  2. Add chicken and ensure that all pieces are well coated
  3. Seal bag and place in refrigerator for about 2 hours*
  4. Using wooden skewers that have been soaking in water for about 30 minutes (to minimize burning on the grill) skewer 3-4 pieces of chicken per skewer
  5. Heat BBQ to medium
  6. Place chicken skewers on BBQ and grill until cooked through, careful not to over cook
  7. Periodically baste the skewers with remaining marinate
  8. Once completed place on a platter and serve
  9. Enjoy!
